AWANA

Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's ministry and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs, programs and training. Our goal is to equip churches and parents worldwide to raise spiritual champions who know, love and serve Christ using integrated programs for ages 2 to 18, resources for Bible-based parenting and discipleship, child and family evangelism and specialized volunteer training.

The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that

needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Here at Landmark, we have a great time!!  Come enjoy a night with the kids as they participate in Opening Assembly, Game Time, Handbook TIme, Council Time, and Closing ceremony.  This is when the clubbers receive their awards for the evening.

We also have special events and Theme Nights were the clubbers gets to dress up for that evenings theme.

KIDS

The Kids in Divine Service (KIDS) group is a ministry at Landmark for children in the 6th grade andbelow.  We hope to expose the children to love, forgiveness, and compassion as our Heavenly Fatherdemonstrates to us.  Our prayer is for each and every child to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

The KIDS group would not be possible without the love and help of many adults.  There are seven toeight couples who assist in the coordinating of events for the entire group.  Most of the couples have children in the KIDS group, which makes being a part of this ministry even more special to these families. The adults are referred to as KIDS group “sponsors.”

The sponsors meet once a month to discuss upcoming activities/events for the KIDS group.  One “activity/event” is planned each month for the group.  Some past activities have included bowling, fishing, swimming, arcades, etc.

The KIDS group is also involved in annual events such as the Valentine Banquet & Silent Auction, Just,Older Youth (JOY) Appreciation Banquet, Easter Egg Hunt, Graduation Banquet, Vacation Bible School,,KIDS Camp, KIDS Summer Trip, Fall Festival, and Christmas Parade.  They also participate in several,“theme” plays each year.

November and December are busy months for our KIDS group. Just before Thanksgiving, the children,go shopping and assemble fruit baskets for our elderly members and then deliver them.  Each Christmas, season, the children enjoy shopping and wrapping gifts for a needy family in the local community.

TGIF

The Teens Growing in Faith (TGIF) group consists of youth from 7th-12th grade.  This enthusiastic and energetic group stays involved in church-wide service such as Ushering, Children’s Chapel, Youth Sunday, Vacation Bible School Leaders, clean-up days, and community outreach efforts.

These young people enjoy fellowship each week through Sunday School, AWANA, and mid-week services. They also come together on a weekly basis through Monday Night Youth Ministry in the fall and Friday Night Youth Ministry in the spring.

The TGIF group would not be possible without the support and dedication of approximately sixteen adults known as “sponsors.” Adult and student officers (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer) are designated within the TGIF group to ensure the needs of the young people are being met according to God’s will.  Each month, TGIF sponsors and student officers meet to discuss issues and upcoming activities/events for the group.  One activity is planned each month the group.  They have enjoyed  bowling, paintball, swimming, skating, fishing, and movies in the past.

Main fundraising efforts for this group are achieved by the spring and fall rummage sales and the annual Valentine Banquet and Silent Auction.

The teens experience God’s Word and each other’s fellowship each summer as they participate in a nationwide youth camp known as, “Student Life at the Beach.” The group has been to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Orange Beach, Alabama.
